Ulthwe Wave Serpent Completed !!

All done and dusted. One down, four to go ... This took three days instead of one like I had hoped.... ah well, next one should be a bit quicker as I have tweaked the black technique to speed things up.

The first pictures look far grayer than it is in RL, These last two are on a lower exposure to give a better idea of how they actually look,

Well , an absolute pig to paint with any speed. Not really happy about how long it's taking but can't cut the quality down. 6 More tanks to do in total *shudders

Well I'm off to give my back a rest and to read my new Banks novel. Back later with this weeks Eldar retro.

WIP Ulthwe Mech Serpent 1 of 5

Well, I found some motivation somewhere and started this yesterday. When I decided to wrap it up last night  I made a list of things to do and estimated times to completion.

In theory I should have been done by 7 maybe 8 o clock this evening but was still going at 11 ish with plenty to go..... was hoping to get these done @ about 6-7 hours per model, I think its more like ten or so.

ARRGH ! going to have nightmares about those damn never ending panel lines forever ...

Once the serpents are done I still have a Falcon and finally the second prism to knock out ..... so maybe 70 hours or so to finish the army to 1750. I'm going to aim to finish by the end of January.

I only decided to get these done as there are so many holes in the DE model range at the moment I'm loathe to start in earnest yet. I may as well finish the Mech and take it to the bulk of tourneys I can get to in 2011.

More likely to have the play experience list and models I require/need to see the DE tourney list for next autumn.

This weeks retro will be up, hopefully tomorrow, depending on how the painting goes. Hoping to update you on the Space wolves showcase at some point soon too.

Warlocks, Done and dusted !!

And for your viewing pleasure and critique.

Long story short , I had a load of warlocks from trades and long term the 1750 tourney army is getting fleshed out with a proper seer council @ 2.5k so I had 3 of the same model and another pair of duplicates.

I figured using multiples of the same model that are not just basic troopers would be a bit pants and I wanted to give em a bit moAr character.

First one thinks he is a samurai, has a head swap and a bit of greenstuff work. I know I have posted him before but he seemed to be missing something , so finished him up with a nice collar to match the rest of the warlocks.

Number two is a destructorlock he is made of a bunch of bits and pieces and some greenstuff work. With some careful cutting I managed to save his helmet , which you might spot hanging from his belt.

Before anyone asks , the avenger pendant hanging from the hilt is because he served on the path of the warror prior to becoming shinobi ..... ;o)

last one , just because I have always wanted to do one actually thrusting, is a Lock with a singing spear.

The first two Are going to lead two units of stormies and the spear dude will be joining the council eventually.

I Have managed to make significant progress with assembly this week, as I  fully cleaned up and assembled and magnetized a MkII Serpent and a MkII Falcon.

Im going to aim to do the last two Serpents asap which means the whole army will be assembled, then there will be much spraying of black.....

Storm Guardian Destructorlock

Well I managed to Acquire some mangled second hand Stormies which I have been rebuilding and converting. I have to do a major emergency scrounge for the old Eldar CCwep sprues and arms as GW seems to think that selling a unit that requires ten men minimum in the book in sets of 8 is clever *facepalm*

This warlock was another trade and as this resulted with me having 3-4 of the same warlock model I decided to strip him then rebuild him better ,stronger and faster than before.....

In other news I have recieved my Serpent MKII kits and built and sprayed two of them so there will be some MoAr tanks.

Back soon with more painting updates and this weeks retro review, the  War Walker.

Mmmm hot laser Death

Just gotta do the base and a transfer or two, tomorrow whilst the undercoat on Sir dries.

Crystal/Prism detail
In other News Some Reapers turned up, now Sir has some minions to do his bidding.

"You , my room ten o'clock , and you .... ten thirty, bring a fiend"

Really pleased how my army palette came out on this.

Side/engines

lighbox  to small /awkward to take any pictures from interesting angles ,  shows you what the model will look more like under 'normal' lighting

Work on Progress

First Tank I have painted in an age , god I wish this was guard or marine or something , then I could drybrush the mother****

Every single panel line stage 1 (50/50 chaos black and codex) then a blended highlight (of watered fortress) built up where there is an angle or join ,

The agony, 5 hours closer to death .......

About half way through.

Just the back door / laser cells to finish , and the turret , and and  .......

WTF possesed me to do a black army !!

12 Aug 2010

Thank Gawd its over !!

FINALLY finished these

Which Earns me one of these

Just an observation if I may , I am a retarded dullard , in my epic wisdom I decided that painting all three as a batch would 'speed things up'  Fail ...

I knew that I should do the Exarch separately I just wanted the whole lot over in one go , oh well lesson learned.

The celebration Whiskey is to reward myself for finishing 40 foot models, FORTY , Bleurgh

I have had a fiddle with Mr Ra's (Sir) base and have settled on this, I quite like the poetry of the Deamonette claw reaching around the Eldar ruin with Ra stood over , It shows that (in my mind) even though the Eldar civilization is a shade of itself thanks to the 'great Enemy' She still has to get past Sir ...

Blither waffle gibber pretentious waffle something pretentious something.

Also up next is the first of my fully magnetized prism's which I'll be painting now.
